The Isiah 714 Problem | Jonathan Cahn Sermon
Tonight. We’re gonna look at a beautiful mystery, rich and deep in his word. How many people love his word?
The word of God. There’s nothing like it and has everything to do with your life.
Open up to Matthew one Matthew one of course, you know that you know the nativity account.
But here it goes from verse 20.
But when he had thought over this, this is this is joseph putting away mary behold an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream and said joseph Ben Davy, joseph, son of David.
Don’t be afraid to take Miriam mary as your wife.
For the child has been conceived in her is of the Desh the Holy Spirit.
She will give birth to a son and you shall call his name Yeshua jesus, He will save his people from their sins.
Now, all this took place so that what was spoken of by the Lord through the prophet would be fulfilled.
Behold the Virgin will conceive and give birth to a son and they will name him immanuel, which translated means God with us.
Now there’s controversy on this verse by nonbelievers and critics of the bible.
It says the Virgin will be with child.
And there I’ve seen it, even in Newsweek and other media saying this is wrong, this is a mis translation anti missionaries.
Those who are against the gospel will will attack this. Liberal critics of the bible will attack this.
But I want to show you what this is. Let’s look at this.
It goes back to the scripture in Isaiah seven. You can open up to that if you have it?
Isaiah seven, which is where this from? Which says the virgin will be with child Isaiah seven. There.
Now the situation here is one of where the Northern Kingdom has joined an alliance with a foreign power to go against Judah.
The Southern Kingdom, God says it will not stand.
He goes on, he says, for the head of Syria is Damascus and it shall be broken.
Goes on verse 10 and 11.
Moreover, the Lord spoke again to a house and asked for a sign of the Lord, your God asking the depth or the height above.
And then it says verse 12 has the king says, I won’t ask, I won’t tempt the Lord verse 13 says, listen, you House of David, is it a small thing for you to worry men that you’ll actually worry God.
In other words, God saying, ask for a sign that says, I will not do that.
And now God saying not God saying, listen, you’re you’re you’re you’re you’re getting me here by saying this, I have told you asked for a sign.
Now then it goes, therefore, here it is. This is where it comes.
The Lord himself shall give you a sign.
Behold a Virgin shall conceive and bear a son and shall call his name Emmanuel.
Well, that’s where it comes from. Now, a Virgin shall conceive. And is that talking about, jesus.
Right, okay, but here’s the problem or here’s the challenge.
How could a birth 700 years later, be assigned to a house who was long dead?
What does the virgin birth in Bethlehem have to do with the Northern Kingdom of Syria or the Southern Kingdom?
How could it be a sign of promise that God’s going to protect them when the kingdom was long gone?
By the time of the birth of jesus goes on verse 15 says butter and honey, Shall he eat the child that he may know to refuse the evil and choose the good for before the child knows to refuse evil and choose good, the land you abhor shall be deprived of both her kings.
Alright? So he’s saying that before the child gets to this young age, the the whole attack is going to be gone that the kings are going to be done with.
